About SupportCollege.org

SupportCollege.org was founded in late 2007, but did not begin to grow or develop a purpose until mid-2008. The organization and website were originally intended to exist simply as a supplimental scholarship fund for students who work hard, but have a hard time affording college expenses. We soon realized, however, that it would take more than good intentions to get this project on its feet. So we decided to begin offering college advice, whether it be for gaining admission to college or to help students at college survive the experience and enjoy it.

Because we have decided to wait on beginning the SupportCollege scholarship fund until we can find credible donators who wish to help students who need it, we do not currently take applications for scholarships. However, the plan will eventually be to open applications to all college students. All it takes to apply is proof of your enrollment in college, and the college you are attending. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be notified by e-mail. We have not yet decided how to handle distributing the donations, whether it should be the student's discretion as to how the funds are spent, or if we will be sending the money right to the college's financial office to be credited to the student's account. Either way, exciting things will be coming soon.

About the Founder

SupportCollege was founded by Francis Smith, a recent college graduate. Francis attended Ohio Wesleyan University and graduated with over 25,000 dollars of debt. Understanding how hard it can be for students to afford college, Francis decided to found this organization in an attempt to give advice, based on interviews and contacts with various universities and organizations, to college students and to help them afford their college experience.
